Vote for Karen Ota for NHL Award!!

he NHL nominated Karen Ota, founder the Lucky Pucks team and of the Florida Women’s Hockey League, for the Willie O’Ree community award this year. Karen (KO) is the reason why we have a women’s program in south Florida and why Florida as a whole, has a league. The program she created gives us all a space for women to support women through life. She’s brought together such an amazing community of women through hockey, that offer support, inclusion and a sisterhood unlike any other.

Voting ends on April 16th and you can vote once per day, so follow the voting link below! If Karen wins this award, she would be the first female to be honored.

What is Florida Girls Hockey?

There are three levels of focus for growing the number of girls hockey players in Florida, expanding their development opportunities, collaborating with rinks and associations to create more intra state teams and development opportunities, and a set of elite/National Bound Girls teams under the Florida Alliance program.  The images below show how the program and these levels are structured.
